DEPUTY SIRDARIUS R BENTON
Sirdarius “Rashod” Benton is a native from Atlanta, GA. He is a United States Veteran where he served 5 years in the United States Army and 2 years in the Navy Reserves. After leaving the military, he joined the Henry County Police Department, where he served as a patrol officer for 2 ½ years. He is married to his beautiful wife, Brittany Benton and has four beautiful kids. During this time, he made a name for himself, known as “the dancing cop”. With his viral dance videos all over social media, he has been able to reach millions of people not just nationwide, but worldwide.
He felt the need to make these videos because he truly believes in wanting to build the community and law enforcement relationships back together. What better way than through music and dance? Everyone loves music, no matter the genre. Whether you hit moves on the dance floor or tap your feet and bob your head, music is fuel to the soul. By using music and dancing, Officer Benton has spread joy, peace, and laughter to his community and those across the nation.
“It is important that we get back to being more involved with our communities. Getting to know the members in it, the businesses in it, and building that rapport between the two. Right now police officer have a bad representation on some communities by what the media puts out, but I believe that good will always conquer evil. That is why it is so important that we build relationships together, show the people we are human too, that we care, and that we should not be feared but looked to for help.”
Since then, he has parted ways with the Henry County Police Department and now serving with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. Making him Deputy Benton, “the dancing deputy”
